Virginia rodrigues   AFRO-BRAZIL

At the crossroads of lyrical song, gospel and Afro-Brazilian repertoire, Virgínia Rodrigues transcends the distinction between scholar and popular. His unique timbre and his great sensitivity leaves no one indifferent. This very pure voice charms with the mysteries of the pains that inhabit it.

Her latest album, "Cada voz é uma mulher", Virginia Rodrigues calls on Afro-Portuguese-speaking female composers ** and performs their songs by weaving a dialogue in the ancestral nature of their music, between Brazil, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Portugal and Angola.  The great singer returns to her song, after centuries of African music, segregation and contempt for the sacred feminine.

** Sara Tavares, Mayra Andrade, Aline Frazão, Lena Bahule, Luedji Luna, among others.

It is a return to the roots of samba, in all its Africanity, that the Bahian diva invites us for her next tours, alongside Roberto Mendes (and his son Leonardo Mendes), indisputable great master guitarist and composer of the chula. . They  take us to the world of samba de roda and the traditions of Recôncavo Bahiano, a region where the shadow of the orixás hovers, these Afro-Brazilian deities of the Candomblé religion.

Samba of Roda  * Back to the roots of samba:  Chula and samba de roda with the special participation of Roberto Mendes on tour!
